On the agenda
Rotorua Lakes Council’s Community and District Development Committee will be asked to consider recommendations from the Independent Hearings Panel for Plan Change 9 – Housing for Everyone (PC9), and make a decision on the adoption of PC9 to amend the District Plan. These changes are needed to support the housing for growth recommendation from the Council meeting held on the 31 January and the Future Development strategy adopted in November 2023
Preparation of PC9 began in early 2022 in response to requirements from the Government to prepare and process a special type of Plan Change known as an Intensification Planning Instrument, with the intention of increasing housing supply in urban areas.
The submission periods and hearings took place in 2022 and 2023, and the final recommendation report was provided to elected members last month for their consideration ahead of next week’s meeting.
