Agenda for next Council meeting
Council will meet next week to approve a variety of Governance-related matters, consider a draft new submissions policy and confirm the timeline for the 2023/24 Annual Plan.
The agenda for next Wednesday’s meeting, the first for 2023, is now available on Council’s website.
Included in next week’s agenda is approving a code of conduct setting out how elected members will behave and work with one another, council staff and the public and how information will be disclosed. The code is complementary to Standing Orders and the council’s Governance Statement.
Also on the agenda are delegations for the newly established committees – Infrastructure and Environment and Community and District Development, the schedule of committee and Council meetings, and remuneration for councillors, which is set by New Zealand’s Remuneration Authority and which elected members have to formally approve. Remuneration for councillors is determined by the Remuneration Authority as a pool of funding that must be allocated in full and those with additional responsibilities such as chairs and deputy chairs receive additional remuneration on top of their base salaries.
At next week’s meeting elected members will also be approving a timeline for the 2023/24 Annual Plan that will include development of a draft plan, community consultation and deliberations and adoption of a final plan. The 2023/24 year is from 1 July 2023 to the end of June 2024.
Also on the agenda is a proposed Submissions Policy aimed at providing guidelines for formal feedback from individuals or organisations.
