Enquiry
I saw that the Latin American Fiesta is on at the Night Market next Thursday. I have a few questions:
- Why is the Night Market excited to host the fiesta?
- Are there any other cultural events booked or pencilled in at the market in coming months?
What is the Rotorua Night looking forward to/hoping for in 2023?
Response
From Joelene Elliott, Rotorua Lakes Council, Events Directo
Re Why is the Night Market excited to host the fiesta: It is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the diversity of our community and hosting these special events alongside the Rotorua Night Market allows groups to showcase their unique culture. It allows locals to get a taste of different cultures through music, food, activities and entertainment
Re are there any other cultural events booked or pencilled in at the market in coming months: We will be showcasing New Zealand musicians during NZ Music Month (May) and hosting a special Matariki market in July. Previously Diwali and Chinese New Years were celebrated at the Night Market and we love working with the community organisations to bring these events to life.
Re what is the Rotorua Night looking forward to/hoping for in 2023: Less rain and lots of markets! 2022 was the wettest year we have had since we started trading. With the return of tourists we are looking forward to a great year, enjoying our fantastic vendors and looking for new ones to add to the mix.
Please can you note the wet weather postponement date for the Latin American Fiesta is Thursday 26 January 2023.
