18 January 2023
From tomorrow (Thursday 19 January) work will begin to remove three trees from the Rotorua Lakefront Reserve which are sadly dying and if left, will become hazardous to the public. These trees will be replaced with new trees this coming winter.
The work will be completed by next Tuesday 24 January (weather dependent). Work will not take place over the weekend (21-22 January) so that users can still enjoy the lakefront reserve without the added noise.
Deadwood (tree branches which are dead) will also be removed from trees in the surrounding area. As each tree is worked on, it will be cordoned off for the safety of the public.
Playground equipment that is not within the immediate worksite of each tree will still be available for use.
We understand that our lakefront playground and reserve is a popular spot for the public all year round, so we appreciate your cooperation to get this done as quickly as possible.
