Topic: Resignation of council DCE
Enquiry
I understand Craig Tiriana has resigned from his role at the council as DCE chief executive's office. Is that correct?
Can you please tell me:
Why he is leaving?
Does he have a new role to go to?
When his final day will be?
Will the role be advertised and if so when does the council hope to find a replacement?
A bit of background on Craig's roles and contribution to the council would also be great - ie the roles he's occupied, how long he's been there and key achievements. Would be great if that includes some words from Craig himself reflecting on his time at the council too if possible.
Response
The following was provided in response:
I understand Craig Tiriana has resigned from his role at the council as DCE chief executive's office. Is that correct?
Yes
Why he is leaving?
He has decided that the time is right for him to look at new opportunities and has taken a well-deserved break.
Does he have a new role to go to?
See above
When his final day will be?
Craig finished up on 25 November
Will the role be advertised and if so when does the council hope to find a replacement?
It’s the end of the year so we will look at what the organisation needs early in 2023
The following can be attributed to Chief Executive, Geoff Williams:
During his time of nearly 9 years at Council, Craig has fostered strong relationships with our local iwi, businesses and community leaders, Central Government and most importantly, within our organisation and he will be missed. Craig has been a well-respected and high performing member of the council's Executive and Leadership teams. He acted as Chief Executive on multiple occasions while also regularly managing various complex matters on behalf of the organisation. He also on several occasions stepped into other executive responsibility areas while we were recruiting replacements.
From Craig Tiriana via RLC:
"It was a privilege for me to work for the Council and our community. The time provided me with many complex challenges and leadership opportunities which I will take with me into my next career step. My personal highlights were the establishment of the Te Arawa Partnership in 2014/15 and the internal work on the Te Amorangi Framework and staff values and wellbeing programmes. Working to prepare for and during the Covid lock down era was a very challenging period and I am very proud of the work the organisation managed during that unprecedented time.“

Topic: Notice to Fix for Rotorua property
Enquiry
*NOTE: this is a follow-up to an enquiry we responded to yesterday about issues regarding a home build.
Can you tell me how long the stop work notice was in place for?
And I understand the builder has been asked to attend a round table on the 7th with the owners but is not responding. Is this the case?
And has any progress been made on sorting the issues highlighted in the notice to fix notifications?
Response
We responded as follows:
Council staff will continue to work directly with the parties involved to try and resolve these matters rather than via the media. We have nothing further to add at this time to the information provided yesterday.
