Rotorua Lakes Council is seeking the removal of unauthorised vessels and trailers from Kariri Point / Boatshed Bay Reserve by the end of June 2022, so that a trial parking layout can be set up to test the function of the reserve parking ahead of summer 2022-23.
Last summer, the reserve was inundated with visitors, making it difficult to access the boat ramp and park safely. This coming summer, Council will trial a parking layout designed to help improve the user experience.
The trial parking layout will allow for an estimated 25 further parking sites and support our preparedness for another busy holiday period.
The performance of the trial parking layout will be monitored, and this will form the basis for decisions on any possible permanent parking layout in future.
Rotorua Lakes Council is seeking the removal of all vessels and trailers currently occupying the reserve by the end of June to allow for the preparation of the site and establishment of a trial parking layout.
Storage options may be available locally for the remaining vessels and trailers at the owners cost.
If you have any questions relating to the removal of vessels or trailers from Kariri Point / Boatshed Bay Reserve or the trial parking layout, please contact the Council Customer Centre on 07 348 4199.
