Rotorua for Tomorrow - housing information series
Rotorua Lakes Council is running a public series of housing information sessions. Session 2, about Te Arawa's vision for Rotorua, is coming up this week.
The Rotorua for Tomorrow housing information sessions will look at the overall vision for housing and infrastructure in Rotorua, detailing various aspects of what’s being done to achieve this and providing an opportunity for the community to understand what’s happening, share their views and ask questions.
Everybody in Rotorua deserves access to housing that suits their lifestyle and life stage, in a community that is safe to live in, with reliable infrastructure. Right now, our city is growing and changing and as in many other cities across New Zealand, that growth has led to a housing crisis.
Housing is a key priority for our community and for Rotorua Lakes Council and we are committed to making a difference and facilitating change.
The council is working on multiple fronts to address Rotorua’s housing challenges, in collaboration with central government and its agencies, iwi and other developers and landowners.
The information sessions will address things like what our city could look like in the future and the changes you will notice, as well as challenges we will need to overcome.
We have a real opportunity to build and shape a city and community that we can all be proud of, that meets people’s needs now and into the future and protects the things we all love.
A series of 11 information sessions, being held at the Rotorua Library at Te Aka Mauri, will provide insight into the various housing-related initiatives being undertaken by council and others.
If you can’t get to the information sessions, you will be able to view recordings that will be made available on Council’s YouTube channel.
Haere mai, join us to learn more about how we are building a Rotorua for Tomorrow. We look forward to seeing you there.
