Topic: Kuirau Park bore failure
Enquiry
Could we please have an update on the burst bore at Kuirau Park?
What is the status of the bore fix?
Was the road damaged and if so what's being done about that?
Is it still cordoned off and is there any remaining danger to the public/safety messages? We're told the sight is attracting onlookers.
What do we know about what may have caused the bore to burst?
Response
Reporter was directed to the latest update on the Council channels and advised that the bore had experienced a casing failure rather than ‘burst’.

Topic: Katikati COVID-19 case
Enquiry
We would appreciate it if the following questions could be put to Mayor Steve Chadwick at the earliest opportunity:
- When were you notified of the positive Covid-19 case in Katikati?
- What does this case mean for Rotorua?
- What changes will be made in Rotorua as a result of this news?
Thank you for your help. We would appreciate receiving responses to the above before 3pm this afternoon.
Response
Reporter was reminded that the lead agencies with regards to the response to the COVID-19 pandemic are the Ministry of Health and local district health boards, in our case that is the Lakes DHB, and that her questions should be directed to those agencies that are leading the pandemic response.
Reporter was also informed comment provided to her by the mayor just a few days earlier re the need for people to be on extra alert etc with COVID in neighbouring regions remained relevant and could be used if she wished but that the mayor's advice was also to contact the agencies leading the pandemic response in the first instance re the questions she had (as above).
