Work begins on next stage of Rotorua Lakefront boardwalk
This Friday (17 September) HEB Construction will begin work on the next stage of the Rotorua Lakefront boardwalk.
The first stage of the boardwalk construction was completed and opened to the public in July this year.
HEB Construction will now be working on extending the boardwalk towards the western end of the lakefront where it will extend out over the water. This work is scheduled to be complete in July next year.
The new construction site is shown on the map below and fences will start to go up on Friday. This will impact some car parking and visitors to the lakefront are encouraged to park in the temporary carpark where the Soundshell used to be. The construction site will also include the area where the lakefront operator offices usually are. These offices have been moved further west and the operators will continue to operate from the jetties to the east of the construction area.
Pedestrian access to the recently opened boardwalk is shown with the yellow arrows in the image below.
