More than 1300 cubic metres of water has slowly been refilling the outdoor 50 metre pool at Rotorua Aquatic Centre.
Contractors were busy finishing the pool liner during the weekend and staff were able to open the water supply on Sunday evening - reaching one of the final milestones in the renovation project.
The water has been filling the pool during the past couple of days, needing about 48 hours to fill completely.
This week, before the pool can reopen to the public, the team will be monitoring the pool to watch for any ground movement from the weight of the water. They will also be starting and testing the filtration equipment, chemistry and temperature controls.
The moveable bulkhead will also be craned into place this week.
All going well this week the pool will be back in action on or before 1 March.
