Three-year funding grants open for applications

19 May 2021

Two significant community funds are now open for applications.

Local community sector and not-for profit organisations are encouraged to apply for the next round of Community Grants and Partnership Agreements to secure funding to help support the work they do in Rotorua.

The funds are available every three years and provide recipients with guaranteed annual funding for the grant period 2021 to 2024.

For the previous grant period (2018 – 2021) there were more than 30 groups that received a total of $93,000 in Community Grants. The amounts ranged from $1000 to $5000 and were used to fund activities and services such as support groups, operating costs and education programmes. Community Grants are for small to medium sized organisations, which can apply for up to $5000 per year.

Partnership Agreements provide larger support and/or financial assistance to established Rotorua community sector organisations. These high trust agreements support core organisation functions and key outcomes.

The aim of the Council funding is to create a strong social base, meet local needs and make a difference in the community. Partnership Agreements and Community Grants help to provide support and financial assistance to the local not-for-profit sector, specifically those that contribute to community wellbeing, are making a difference to those who need it and align with council’s goals and Vision 2030.

Both funds are now open for applications. The application period closes at 5pm on Monday 14 June 2021.

Potential recipients must read the fund guidelines and complete the appropriate application forms before submitting them to council.

Council will be hosting a series of hui to discuss the funding criteria and support groups through the application process. The dates for the hui are:

  • Thursday 27 May – 5.30pm at Rotorua Lakes Council
  • Tuesday 1 June – 9.30am at Rotorua Lakes Council
