30 April 2021

Next week contractors will be working outside Rydges Rotorua on Fenton Street to remove the two eucalyptus trees that sit between the footpath and the front entrance of the hotel.

The trees are being removed due to increased incidences of large branches falling on the path below. The removal of the trees is a pre-emptive measure to keep pedestrians and motorists safe.

The work is expected to take five days from Monday 3 May to Friday 7 May and will take place during business hours. During that time the area outside Rydges (inlcuding the footpath) will be closed as professional arborists will on site using a large crane to remove the trees. Traffic management will also be in place and the road will be down to one lane while the contractors are on site.

This work is being done in partnership with Rydges Rotorua.

The eucalyptus trees within the race course area next to Rydges will remain.

For questions regarding firewood please direct calls to Patariki Ashby from Ashby Tree Services on 027 2742948.
