On the Agenda

10 February 2021

Speed limit reviews, the Rotorua Climate Action Plan, policies that will support the Long-term Plan and lakes water supplies are on the agenda for tomorrow’s Strategy, Policy & Finance Committee.

The Committee will be asked to recommend to the Full Council that changes proposed to speed limits on local roads go out to community consultation.

The review includes a review of speed limits outside rural schools in the district

Also included in the review is the proposed phasing out of 70km/h limits, in line with Waka Kotahi’s direction.

Council carries out reviews of speed limits every three years with external experts conducting the reviews on council’s behalf, in accordance with national rules and guidelines.

The report to the committee (p29 of the meeting agenda) includes a table outlining the proposed speed limit changes and the reasons for these.

Also on the agenda . . .

The committee will be asked to recommend adoption of the Rotorua Climate Action Plan following consultation in September and October last year. This followed previous engagement and consultation with key stakeholder groups. Latest feedback and submissions have informed changes. The report on this matter (p18 of the meeting agenda) outlines feedback and submissions received and changes made to the proposed plan as a result.

Rotorua Lakes Community Board is asking the committee to recommend that the 2021-31 Long-term Plan includes a commitment to review and provide a report on options for a public water supply at Mourea and other un-reticulated lakeside communities. The report on this matter is at p12 of the meeting agenda.

The committee will be asked to recommend that Council note the policies to be published in conjunction with the Long-term Plan consultation document following its adoption. The policies are the first suite of supporting information that underpins development of the 2021-31 Long-term Plan. See the report relating to this on p14 of the meeting agenda.
