Last week of consultation on draft climate action plan
Kōrero Mai – have your say on the Draft Rotorua Climate Action Plan – Mahere Tauhohe Huarere
The plan proposes a range of targets and actions to address climate change for the Rotorua district and we want residents’ feedback.
The draft plan has been developed with input from partners and stakeholders with the aim to guide decision-making by Council and others towards a lower-carbon way of doing things in our district.
Human activity has impacted on our atmosphere. There is already evidence of climate change effects, including raised temperatures and sea levels and increased frequency of extreme weather events.
The draft plan identifies action we can take to mitigate (reduce) the emissions created in our district and proposes emissions reduction targets.
It also identifies the risks our district faces from climate change and the actions that need to be taken to adapt to the expected changes.
The plan will be a living document that will evolve to reflect work underway, future planning and our progress towards addressing climate change. This work will be led by Council, our partners and the wider community.
It is important that our community has the opportunity to provide feedback on this draft Plan. Your input will help us shape future actions that will affect us all.
Feedback closes Friday 16 October
You can view the draft plan and find out more, including how to have your say HERE on Council’s consultation and engagement platform Let’s Talk - Kōrero Mai.
