A proposed Rotorua Economic Recovery Plan: Build Back Better has been approved at an Extraordinary Council Meeting held today.
The meeting was conducted using Zoom video-conferencing technology and the recording of the public section of the meeting will be made available as soon as possible. Technical issues meant the meeting was not able to be livestreamed as was planned.
Council was asked to support the principles and objectives of the economic recovery plan as presented by Strategy Group Manager Jean-Paul Gaston. You can view the presentation slides relating to that item HERE on Council’s website
Work on a recovery plan follows an Extraordinary Council Meeting held last week when elected members agreed to adopt in principle the Government’s COVID-19 strategy and start work on the development of a Rotorua Lakes Council approach.
That approach is based on:
- Protecting our people and our community;
- Cushioning the economic and social impacts;
- Positioning our district for recovery.
The majority of Councillors voted in support of the plan that was presented with Cr Reynold MacPherson recording his vote against and Cr Sandra Kai Fong abstaining.
