Decisions from today's Full Council hui/meeting are as follows -
Interim delegation to CE: Council approved the delegation of Council responsibilities, duties and powers to the Chief Executive during interim election period (from the day after the declaration of election results until swearing in of the new Council). The delegations will be subject to limitations set out in the Local Government Act and to a requirement to consult with the person elected to the position of Mayor and may only be used for matters that cannot wait for the first meeting of the new Council. Any urgent decisions that need to be made during this period will require calling an extraordinary Council meeting. Policy change: Amendment to the council’s Dangerous and Insanitary Buildings Policy has been approved for public consultation. (Go to p25 of the Strategy, Policy & Finance Committee meeting agenda to see the full report on this matter)
FENZ lease agreement: Council has approved extending its lease to Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) of the land occupied by the Okareka community fire service to 33 years with one right of renewal for another 33 years. Road closure approved: Council approved the temporary closure of Penny and Kaharoa roads for the Motorsport Bay of Plenty Tarmac Hill Climb event from 9am to 5pm on Sunday 8 September 2019. Event organisers conducted door-to-door consultation prior to submitting its road closure application to Council. One objection was lodged.
