13 June 2019

Recommendations for the 2019-29 Annual Plan will be considered by Council’s Strategy, Policy & Finance Committee today [Thursday 13 June 2019].

The Committee will be asked to recommend to the Full Council:

  • That Council supports ongoing work regarding future delivery and management of wastewater services and that officers bring back to Council a statement of proposal/consultation document in order to undertake a special consultative procedure;

  • That Council supports an overall rates increase of 4.9% for the 2019-20 financial year (indication in long-term plan for 2019/20 was 5.1%);

  • That the introduction of a wastewater targeted rate for residents at Rotomā be introduced 1 July 2020, not 1 July 2019 as previously proposed;

  • That feedback received on key projects be referred to the relevant project steering groups for their consideration;

  • That Council notes all the other feedback from submitters and supports responses drafted.

Today’s report regarding decision-making on the Annual Plan for 2019/20, which is year 2 of the 2018-28 Long-term Plan, follows community engagement and consultation during April and May. The two main items  about which Council sought feedback were the future delivery of wastewater services and rates.

An information/consultation document produced by Council also provided updates on the progress of key Council projects.

Today’s meeting starts at 9.30am and is open to the public to attend. It will be livestreamed and the livestream/recording can be accessed at THIS LINK on Council’s website.
