Carl Doy to perform in Rotorua in April.

One of New Zealand’s most influential musicians will be performing in Rotorua next month and promoting his new CD.

Internationally recognised pianist, composer and arranger Carl Doy is performing in Rotorua on Sunday 21 April at the Civic Theatre.

From his world-renowned Piano by Candlelight series of recordings, to directing the music for Dancing with the Stars, Carl Doy has been an established part of the New Zealand music scene for almost 40 years.

Events & Venues general manager Peter McLeod said the concert will coincide with the launch of Carl Doy’s soon to be released CD, Songs of Love and War.

“Carl’s music has been a constant in the New Zealand entertainment scene since the 70s so we’re delighted that he has chosen to perform in Rotorua.

“While arguably best known for his Piano by Candlelight series, he has also produced gold and platinum albums for Kiwi stars Tina Cross, Rob Guest, Derek Metzger and Sir Howard Morrison, and toured with international acts such as Gladys Knight and The Pips, Bob Hope, Shirley Bassey and BB King.

“He’s looking forward to playing both popular favourites from Gershwin to Lloyd-Webber, not forgetting music from films, plenty of nostalgia, and he’ll even be taking audience requests during the afternoon concert.”

“I’m sure tickets to this show are going to be popular as gifts or for a special treat for family members and friends,” said Mr McLeod.

Tickets are on sale at Ticketmaster and cost $25 per person, or $20 per person for group bookings (10 or more).
