Topic: Dumping of shopping trolleys
Enquiry
Reporter following up on enquiry last week regarding trolleys left in streets:
I spoke with RDRR Reynold Macpherson who said the trolley's owners should be paying council to get them back.
His direct comment was: "The disproportionate costs of the homeless industry on Rotorua ratepayers is being magnified by Council not impounding the trolleys until redeemed at full cost by the big store owners who are currently making large profits."
"With Council heading towards a 7.2 percent rise in rates, such wanton expenditure simply adds insult to injury."
Response
Reporter was informed the council organisation had nothing further to add to information and comment provided on this topic last week
