When will my citizenship ceremony be?
The Department of Internal affairs will send you an invitation to attend your ceremony at Rotorua Lakes Council approximately three weeks before the event.
Who do I contact if I cannot attend my ceremony?

Who can attend and how many guests can I bring to my ceremony?
Ceremonies are invitation only events.
There is a RSVP section on the letter sent to the candidate from the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA). It is important that candidates RSVP within the requested timeframe. It is also noted in the letter that candidates are invited to bring a maximum of 2 guests (per family) as there is limited seating available in the Council Chamber (event venue).
Where are the citizenship ceremonies held and what should I bring to the ceremony?
Ceremonies are held In the Council Chamber, Civic Centre, 1061 Haupapa Street.
Please bring the invitation letter from DIA (printed or electronically) and a photo ID to the ceremony.
Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the ceremony to ensure you are seated on time.
Is the Citizenship Ceremony a catered event?
Yes, afternoon tea is served at the Citizenship Ceremony.
How long is the Citizenship Ceremony?
A ceremony can take up to 2 hours 1.30pm - 3.30pm. Candidates are required to stay for the entire duration of the ceremony.
