Crankworx 2018

Rotorua Lakes Council is proud to support Crankworx Rotorua, an event that showcases our districts active environment and the essence of manaakitanga (hospitality) for which our community is renowned.

That manaakitanga extends to not only one, but TWO Locals Days and is in addition to the many other FREE events over the 9 days of Crankworx.

If you're going to either one of the 'Free for Locals Days', please ensure you have proof of address and ID.

DAY 5: WEDNESDAY 21 MARCH, SKYLINE ROTORUA:FREE FOR LOCALS

Gates open 10am - 5.30pm

How to get to Skyline:

Bike - bike parking available on site (BYO lock)

Events:

THE PROFESSIONALS ROTORUA NATIONAL SCHOOLS DOWNHILL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Practice: 10am - 11.30am / Racing: 12.30pm - 2pm

High School students get the opportunity to battle it down the classic Crankworx Rotorua Downhill trail just days before the pros. Starting at the top of Mount Ngongotaha, riders race all the way down the mountain and into the finishing coral of the Crankworx Rotorua Village.

CRANKWORX ROTORUA AIR DH

Practice: 10am - 1.45pm / Racing: 2pm - 5.30pm

Racing down the Mr Black trail at the Skyline Rotorua Gravity Park, riders race over 30 jumpable features in an attempt to be the fastest person to the finish line. This downhill event is all about technique and hitting jumps, while trying to maintain maximum speed going down the hill.

TIKI TOUR SCAVENGER HUNT

Follow the clues as you venture through the Crankworx Village hunting for treasures. The best way to explore the village so you don't miss anything! New treasure hunts available every day.

PIMP MY RIDE

Come down and give your bike some loving. Clean your bike, pump up the tires and then pimp it up with stickers, number plates and lots of bike bling.

TAMARIKI TRACK

The coolest little track in the Crankworx Village. With berms and rollers, this track is open for everyone to have a go on. Kids can bring their own bike, or have a go on one of the demo bikes. This is the perfect track for kids to practice their skills and experience the thrill of learning some new ones.

DAY 6: THURSDAY 22 MARCH, SKYLINE ROTORUA: FREE FOR LOCALS

Gates open 10am - 5.30pm

EVENTS:

ROCKSHOX ROTORUA PUMP TRACK CHALLENGE PRESENTED BY TORPEDO 7

Qualifications: 10am - 11.30am

Finals: 6.30pm - 9pm

In this chainless battle you'll see riders coast using only the momentum of the start ramp and their pure strength as they race head-to-head trying to gain as much speed as they can over berms and rollers. Grab some snacks and a drink and have a seat on the grandstand by the track and enjoy the show.
