The award-winning Rotorua Museum is a department of Rotorua Lakes Council.
The Museum acts as guardian of local treasures and provides free educational opportunities for students. Visitors can enjoy a range of permanent exhibitions, as well as a comprehensive programme of art exhibitions, touring shows and events.

- Taonga Maori - spiritually and historically significant treasures of Te Arawa.
- Fine Arts - important early graphic images of New Zealand, historic and contemporary artworks,sculpture, ceramics and craft.
- Photographic - Over 70 000 images depicting Rotorua's rich past.
- Social History - items relating to the Rotorua area since European settlement.
