Reserves Guidelines
Council manages the lake structures at these lake reserves. Environment Bay of Plenty in conjunction with Te Arawa Lakes Trust manage the lakes.
Lake Reserves can be booked for functions by contacting the Rotorua Lakes Council.
As the reserves are public places, your booking gives you preferential but not exclusive use. Your booking does not exclude other members of the public from the reserve.
However, if you book a reserve for your function, we are able to ensure the toilets (if applicable) are cleaned and stocked, that there are no lake and reserve closures and that we have enough rubbish bins in place.
Dogs
Dogs are permitted on most reserves, but they must be on a lead. Dogs are prohibited from children's play areas. There are nominated dog exercise areas around the Rotorua District where a lead is not required. Please ensure you take bags to pick up after your dog. Dog fouling on a park or reserve is an offence.
Restrictions
To ensure the safety of those enjoying our reserves by-laws are in place that restrict the use of motorised vehicles, trail bikes and motorbikes, horses, lighting fires, and alcohol on parks and reserves.
Camping
Camping is not permitted on most of our parks or neighbourhood recreation reserves, however, council does have some specified overnight camping locations in the Rotorua District. Not all areas of the district are managed by Council. The Department of Conservation administer six conservation campsites in the Rotorua District.

Booking a Reserve for an Event
Reserves can be booked for events or functions like family gathering, weddings and work BBQ. Ask a member of our Events Hub Team by emailing rotoruavenues@rotorualc.nz.
