Farmers Market

Rotorua Lakes Council is inviting expressions of interest from people keen to be part of the Rotorua Farmers Market which will be held each Sunday in the central city from Spring 2017.
The market provides an opportunity to showcase locally grown produce and pantry items like pickles, jams, flowers, cheese and artisan breads with one-off stalls available for community groups and individuals. It is a food market only, with the exception of seedlings, potted plants,
cut flowers, weaving, compost and wood.

There are also opportunities for individuals and groups like community gardeners to sell excess produce and share their knowledge and opportunities for fundraising.
We also have a children's barrow available each week and welcome young entrepreneurs to the market to sell their homemade or homegrown goods. This is a brilliant way for kids to get experience with customer service, money handling, marketing and hopefully make a bit of extra money and have fun doing it.
The Rotorua Farmers Market demonstrates the concept of manaakitanga (hospitality and sharing) and has a distinctly Rotorua flavour. The stalls are purpose-built carts (see image below).
We welcome anyone who is considering having a stall to get in touch by completing the Expression of Interest above. Spring will be here before we know it so the cooler months are the perfect time to get planting and planning your Farmers Market stall.
The 2016/17 season was fantastic and we look forward to welcoming new stallholders and market-goers later in 2017.
