Rural Community Board Devolved Funding
The Rotorua Rural Community Board administers a total of $125,000 of devolved funding per financial year and they want to hear from communities about what this funding should go towards.
The purpose of the fund is to support the aspirations of rural communities.
The funding will be allocated and then administered by council officers who will organise the purchasing and installing of any items.
This funding can be used only for council-owned assets. This means anything that is on council-owned land, such as reserves and playgrounds, council buildings and local roads.
What sorts of things have been funded in the past?
- CCTV cameras
- Playground items for a reserve
- School bus shelters
- Fridges, heat pumps, ovens and furniture for community halls
- Community toilet block
- Defibrillators at community locations
- Picnic tables and benches
Do you have an idea that could benefit your community?
- The project must be within a rural area in the Rotorua District;
- The project must provide local public benefit and be free and open to all members of the community;
- The funding must go towards something that is a council asset.
- The project should align with one or more the board priorities which are: Infrastructure, Civil Defence, Communication, Rural Safety, Community Halls.
Who can apply?
Anyone from our local rural communities.
Please note any funding allocated will not go directly to a community member or group, it will be administered by council staff.
When the Board reviews the applications, you may be asked to come and speak at a meeting to share the idea or project that you would like funded.
Timeline for applications
Round 1:
April/May: 6 week period for applications
May: Review and evaluation of funding applications by the board
June: Decisions and notification to applicants
Round 2:
2 September - 12 October 2024: 6 week period for applications
October: Review and evaluation of funding applications
November: Decisions and notification to applicants
