The Delivery

Rotorua 2030 came to life after we asked residents, visitors, workers and businesses what kind of district they wanted. People told us they want a vibrant city heart, a district that cares about the environment, has a strong economy, supports the arts and connects its people to each other and the rest of the world. Rotorua 2030 is now the cornerstone of everything we do.

Supporting our commitment to Rotorua 2030, and the goals and 2016 priorities, are seven portfolios (see below), led by councillors and involving community representatives. The portfolios are developing key strategies to achieve our shared goals

Economic development and revitalisation of the inner city are important aspects of the Rotorua 2030 vision. In these case studies we take a look at several business people who have chosen to set up in the inner city and be a part of the reinvigoration of downtown Rotorua.

Creative Communities - The overarching vision of this portfolio is to build Rotorua's creative sector as both vibrant and sustainable.

District Revitalisation - The Inner city revitalisation portfolio aims to unlock the city centre's potential so it becomes a place people will want to go – a place that welcomes everybody.

People and Engagement - youth, family and older persons.

Sports and Recreation - The aim of the Sport and Recreation Portfolio is to build a stronger, healthier, happier and safer community through sport and recreation.

Sustainable Economic Development - Strengthening the links between the council's various economic growth activities and responding to opportunities as they arise.

Sustainable Living - An important part of our Rotorua 2030 goals is a commitment to environmental leadership with a key priority is to support reinvigorated neighbourhoods and the creation of healthy homes.

Te Arawa Partnership - The Te Arawa Partnership Portfolio developed as a result of Council's Rotorua 2030 commitment to develop a new partnership model with Te Arawa.
